Sharla met Mulenga through mutual friends at FBC Waco in 2013 and developed a friendship with the Chella family while Mulenga was attending Truett Seminary. Sharla graduated from the Baylor School of Social Work and has primarily worked at non-profit organizations serving various populations including teen mothers, children under protective service care, and students in public schools. More recently, Sharla founded Bloom Writing Services, LLC, a grant consulting business where she writes, reviews, edits, and evaluates grant proposals. For over 15 years, Sharla co-led mission teams to work with an orphanage in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. She and her husband Felipe, who also serves on the Board, currently work specifically with CLC’s logistical project needs.
